WoodUpp’s first impressions

Take a tour with WoodUpp at A+ Siam Sushi in Aarhus, Denmark with Søren from Rumraketten.

Søren runs Rumraketten, interior design in Denmark. WoodUpp were lucky to go to A+ Siam Sushi with him and get insights into his inspiration and design of the project. Søren has been in the interior design field for 17 years. Not only will you get inspiration, but you will also get some great tips on how to go about decorating your restaurant. All restaurant owners should pay close attention.

Here’s just one of the things WoodUpp spoke to Søren about:

The most important thing you can do as a restaurant owner is to provide your guests with a great experience. Believe it or not, food isn’t the only thing people look for when they eat out. They want to spend quality time with others. So, it’s not only about the food.

There are a number of things that could impact the experience of your customers, good or bad. You have the food, how the staff treats the guests and of course the surroundings and the restaurant’s atmosphere. Søren was tasked to create the proper atmosphere for A+ Siam Sushi using informal luxury as his guide.

With informal luxury as his guide, WoodUpp think he did an amazing job in creating this atmosphere at A+ Siam Sushi.

Søren, A+ Siam Sushi has your decorative imprint everywhere. What was your interior design thought process throughout this project?

“My thought process is very holistic.

I ask myself, how I would go about designing a place where the employees feel happy when they come to work.

Of course, you have to consider the guest too.

You want to provide the guests with a great experience by giving them an atmosphere and environment that they enjoy. An amazing atmosphere seems to give the food a better taste.

That’s where I began my thought process when creating the interior decor here.”

You really considered everything including the amazing attention to detail. What would you say your favorite detail is in the restaurant?

It’s not just one detail that stands out:

Take the cross sofa, for example, it adds an extraordinary touch, because it is not a common site at other restaurants. I thought it was very cool. Guests aren’t stuck sitting at chairs and tables. This gives them another seating option and I think the guests appreciate it. A sofa, on the other hand, would be too cozy.

Besides that, the Paters lamps over the couch highlight the seating area.

People immediately think “wow” when they first enter the restaurant.

On this upper level, I believe it is a complete decoration.

The acoustical panels on the lower level add a functional detail and a cool look. There is some edgy decor on the lower level.”

How did the acoustical panels add to the interior design?

“Acoustic panels played multiple roles.

It added a wood finish to the interior decor besides the wooden tables and chairs.

The panels are pleasing to the eyes and bring together the tables and the walls nicely.

It produces a wholesome atmosphere.

The panels also produce better acoustics in the room.

This is often an overlooked detail in restaurants.

When the acoustics are pleasant in the restaurant and the reverb is eliminated, it provides a more pleasant atmosphere and guests tend to order more in environments they enjoy.

Not only do the customers order more, but you also create a repeat consumer.

And this is very important to the owner of the restaurant.”

Thank you for your time Søren. You did an amazing job here.

"You are welcome and thank you for taking the time too. I’m glad you enjoyed it and I’m very proud of the final design.

Thank you for taking the time to read the A+ Siam Sushi story. WoodUpp hopes you enjoyed it."
