Following on from the successful specification and implementation of Charcon Eco products in and around the Edgbaston Mill development opposite, we were selected to be used around the new stand and new entrance to the ground. This project was a complete revamp of an area of the cricket ground to enable the club and stadium become a first class sporting and function facility.
The hard landscaping includes the EcoPave flags and block paving used in and around the new main entrance, demarked by EcoKerbs and Chinese granite. Blue up lights were cut into the paving to highlight the blue colouring of the external building. In using the Eco range, the client, main and subcontractor used a product that is 82% recycled and meets the BREEAM and responsible sourcing credentials.
We worked extensively and closely with architect, main contractor and subcontractor on the project. The project is now complete and has been greatly received by the client, contractor and general public. The hard landscaping is centred on the new main entrance to the cricket ground, where movements and access is at its highest.
The project was an Aggregate Industries specification, completed successfully by Galliford Try and the products were laid by a Regional Contractor, Parkstone.
If this project had not been completed on time for the test match between England and India, a massive penalty clause would have been triggered. the project was delivered on time and to budget.
