A3 Bus Corridor Project

A3 Bus Corridor Project

Client: Hampshire County Council
Type of works: Supply and installation of Queensbury Meridian Bus Shelters.

Queensbury Shelters was awarded the contract for the supply of new shelters on the prestigious A3 Bus Corridor in Hampshire. The Meridian shelter was chosen for the project for its functionality, flexibility and aesthetic appearance, as the requirement was for the integration, both now and in the future, of a range of features.

The initial shelters included the provision of seats, timetable cases, RTPI using TFT screens, help points, mains-powered LED lighting, CCTV, advertising lightboxes and solar-powered lighting.

Each stage of the shelter development was completed in consultation with the client, the stakeholders and the end users to ensure that their input was considered on such things as the design of seat handles through to the positioning of the TFT screens. The scheme is project managed so that the shelter works are co-ordinated to ensure minimum disruption to the travelling public, and that the power and data connections are made to ensure the shelters are illuminated, and the passenger information is available.

Future developments of the scheme are set to include the provision of LED pavement lighting, activated as the bus arrives to illuminate the pavement to the bus entrance.
