Type of works: supply of Flowfast Quartz flooring and Isocrete Heavy Duty K-Screed.
Flowcretes fast-track flooring concept and award-winning screed system has been used at a new state-of-the art sports village, designed by Reiach and Hall Architects in Aberdeen, Scotland.
The new sporting development, which has been built on the site of the former Chris Anderson Stadium through partnering bodies Aberdeen City Council, the University of Aberdeen and sportscotland, features a full-size indoor football pitch, indoor running straight, large games hall, squash courts and exercise studios, in addition to a large fitness suite and conference facilities.
Beating off stiff competition from traditional vinyl and tile finishes, 4,000 sq m of Flowcretes fast-track MMA resin flooring system, Flowfast Quartz, which can be installed onto new concrete slabs with relative humidity levels above 75% RH, has been applied throughout the entire sporting complex.
Not only able to deliver a new floor finish under a quick turnaround, Flowfast Quartz offers favourable life-cycle costs and was suited for use in a number of environments across the development ranging from W/C, shower and changing areas through to the main entrance and foyer, canteen and kitchens as well as all corridors, conference rooms and spectator areas.
Flowfast Quartz was also used as coving material to the entire underside of the spectator seating areas within the squash and main sports Hall which enhanced the appearance of the seating keeping in line with the seamless flooring.
Work at the new site also included the installation of 600 sq m of Flowcretes Isocrete Heavy-Duty K-Screed, which was laid over an energy-saving underfloor heating system, in the entrance reception, main foyer and canteen areas prior to the installation of final floor finishes.
