Type of works: designed, manufactured and fitted bespoke screening

Commissioned by NCP, the car park provides 1,050 parking spaces in a visually striking building featuring stunning bespoke screening designed, manufactured and fitted by Maple Sunscreening.

Maple’s design team were asked to create bespoke screening to meet a challenging brief from the architect of the project’s main contractor R G Carter.

Maple Sunscreening had to deliver:
• Maximum privacy for car park users and neighbours
• Minimal noise
• Minimal environmental impact
• Maximum design appeal

At Maple, everything was handled in-house. The design team devised superb high performance screening with dramatic zig-zag lines and coloured louvred panels.

The technical team consulted with the project’s steel and concrete suppliers to determine how the panels should be prepared for easy installation.

Then it was over to Maple’s manufacturing team to produce the folding aluminium panes and pre-drill them for fitting. Again, this was handled at Maple’s advanced manufacturing facility at the company’s headquarters in Stockport.

As manufacturing progressed, Maple’s installation team was on site fitting the panels to the exterior of the car park as R G Carter completed stages of the build. Despite the scale of the project, the process was seamless.

The Addenbrooke’s NCP project has been a huge success and Maple Sunscreening has been widely praised for its key contribution. Construction Director of R G Carter, says, “Maple delivered on every count. Their teamwork, innovation and attention to detail were superb. We were delighted to work in partnership with them.”
