AKW takes the best and makes it better with launch of new pump

The latest shower waste pump introduced by AKW, the market leading manufacturer of lifestyle solutions for inclusive living, takes the best features of its two existing diaphragm pump models to offer a new design with superior performance and reliability. The new M17 digital shower pump, which will ultimately replace the existing M1 and M3 pumps, is compatible with AKW’s wide range of pumped wastes and trays and can be connected directly to its award-winning LUDA® electric care shower.

The M17 is a new design with excellent reliability that has been proven in extensive field testing. The new pump takes on AKW’s heritage and long standing experience in the manufacturing of shower waste pumps to give the very best product within the high performance pumps available on the market.

The pump has been developed to achieve a high capacity of 17 litres of water per minute in real bathroom installations to ensure efficient water and debris clearing with electric and mixer showers.

A unique planetary design gearbox, new 4-valve pump head and improved pump head design makes M17 the quietest pump in its class with almost silent operation.

IP45 rated, the pump can be located in Zone 1 or 2 of a shower room, and is the only shower drain pump system in the world with a BSI Kite Mark.

Lloyd Best, Group Design & Product Development Director of AKW says: “Our aim with the M17 is to rationalise our range of pumps to simplify choice while at the same time bringing in innovations that offer greatly enhanced performance. The M17 is an outstanding product with many benefits and is excellent value. We received universally positive feedback during the field trials with installers confirming both the ease of installation and superior performance.”

For ease of installation, it has the same fittings and electrical connections as the current range and both inlet and outlet are industry-standard 22mm fittings. The non-handed pump allows the flexibility to rotate the pump head to allow flow in either direction making the installation quicker and easier.

With a number of kit options available, the M17 comes with a five-year warranty with full technical and maintenance after-sales support offered by AKW during the warranty period. AKW is also offering a special launch promotion from February: with every M17 pump, a black-and-white carer shower screen can be purchased for the reduced price of £200.
