The product also offers enhanced chemical resistance and a bacteriostat for MRSA resistance, reducing the risk of infection. It copes well with moisture and temperature extremes, making it perfect for public walkways that need to work hard under a variety of conditions.
Caversham Flooring Company Ltd installed the new floor. Director Nik Tong, said: The existing flooring was Altro MaxisTM 25, which we laid five years ago. With the clubs promotion back into the Barclays Premier League, they wanted to revitalise the stadium with new flooring. Rather than relaying Altro Maxis 25 again, Altro suggested we used their new Altro Unity 25 product because they wanted a good testing ground for it.
The product is very easy to install, despite being very thick. It really is tough stuff. We had to take up the old floor, re-latex the sub-floor with a smoothing compound to give a level surface, then lay the new floor in sections.
The football season had already started, so we had to work in stages to keep key areas operational during matches. We used AltroFixTM 365 adhesive to lay the floor. This product is superb for laying heavy-duty floors because its a very high-tack product and keeps it firmly in place.
In the tunnel mouth, which opens up into the stadium, we also laid the Reading FC logo within a section of Altro WalkwayTM 25 safety flooring.
Nik Tong added: Altro gave us great service the back-up throughout the installation. They wanted to ensure their new product would be perfect for this application. We have a great relationship with Altro, as well as Reading Football Club, and the results are great. Im very impressed with the new product.
Reading FCs Stadium Manager, Ray Booth, commented: The installation of the new Altro flooring was a challenge because it had to be laid in between match fixtures, but Caversham Flooring were very professional and completed the work in sections to cause minimal disruption. We have used the company for years and they did a superb job.
The floor looks great, very smart indeed. Unlike many other safety floors it has a sparkle-free finish, which I prefer. It is proving to be tough, easy to clean and overall a great choice of flooring for our needs.
