To enable designers to calculate an accurate U-value for a wall, Ancon Building Products has added the cross-sectional areas of its wall ties to its website at www.ancon.co.uk.

The effect of wall ties on the U-value of a wall is often insignificant and can be omitted in accordance with EN ISO 6946. The use of the actual cross-sectional area of a wall tie, rather than a default value, can make a considerable difference to the calculation.

Ancon has successfully value-engineered its wall tie range to provide high performance at a competitive price. Default values for stainless steel ties over-estimate the cross-sectional areas involved.

Wall ties are an important element in the stability of cavity walls. Stainless steel ties are corrosion resistant, readily available in various types and lengths, and are 100% recyclable.
