Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems, with its approved fabricator K2 Aluminium Systems Ltd, supplied the Comar 6EFT curtain walling for the Isle of Anglesey Country Council’s Head Office’s new prestigious entrance.

Anglesey County Council’s Property Services Design Team (PSDT), prepared the concept of a supported extension with a curved roof detail, and an all-glass external perspective for the new entrance and facade. K2 was invited, at early design stage by the PSDT, to discuss the best method of achieving the challenging and complex shaped facade, spanning from head to cill with no intermediate structural support. Furthermore, the main facade elevation, sides and parallel screens would all have true curved head sections.

After careful consideration, K2 decided that the Comar 6EFT 4-sided SG system could fulfil the design, and proceeded to prepare a full technical specification and cost analysis. Fabricating the screens involved complex compound mitred corners for the return and parallel screens, including the preparation and production of multiple curved sections. The screens returned at a further 90º angle with provision for a revolving door, disabled access door and bespoke Comar 6EFT concealed vent.

All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. K2 Aluminium Systems liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
