Another success for British manufacturer as it wins Wall Tile of the Year award

The ‘tactile’ collection of wall and floor tiles, designed by Studio Conran for leading UK tile manufacturer British Ceramic Tile, has won the ‘Wall Tile of the Year’ Award at the prestigious annual Tile Association Awards, held in Birmingham on the 25th April 2009. The awards were attended by over 380 members from across the industry and recognise outstanding professionalism and talent within the industry.

Sales and Operations Director, Tom McMurtrie comments, “As the only British manufacturer to win a Tile Association Award, British Ceramic Tile is thrilled to be acknowledged within the industry as an innovative design and sales led business. This award reflects British Ceramic Tile’s passion to provide high quality, value for money products, using locally sourced world class materials and working with uniquely British talent.”

Devon based British Ceramic Tile worked closely with Studio Conran throughout the whole design process of the tactile collection, producing a stunning selection of wall and floor tiles for commercial markets, which were launched in June 2008. Building on the success of ‘tactile’ it is currently planning a new selection of tiles with Studio Conran, due to be launched in December this year.

The Tile Association represents all aspects of the wall and floor tile industry in the UK from manufacture to installation, bringing national recognition to products, services and people within the industry. This is the third time British Ceramic Tile has won the ‘Wall Tile of the Year’ Award.

British Ceramic Tile is committed to sustainability and reducing its impact on the environment. It sources its raw materials locally and recycles everything where possible, including rainwater, back into the production process. Its efforts earned British Ceramic Tile ISO14001 accreditation in December 2008.
