Asda, Didcot

Client: Asda
Type of works: design, manufacture and installation of cycle and smoking shelters.

The client's criteria was to create a safe and modern looking covered parking area for bicycles and motorcycles.

The client's architect chose Bailey Streetscene's Oxford Cycle Shelter due to its contemporary design and versatility.

The Oxford shelters were manufactured to a bespoke length of 5m per bay. By positioning the three shelters in a row, they created enough cover for up to 36 cycles.

The client also required a designated smoking area. For this, Bailey Streetscene suggested its Mayfair smoking shelter with integral seating. The design team redesigned the Mayfair to fit the site layout, without compromising the client's specifications.

Bailey Streetscene carried out the installation on this project.

In October 2009, Bailey Streetscene received a further contract for this site; to supply and install two of its large Manchester shelters to provide cover for motor cycles.
