Street Furniture specialist Bailey Streetscene has been recognised for its contribution to the redevelopment of New York Street in Manchester. The North West based company, who provides a wide range of street furniture, including bollards, benches, and shelters for use in urban and public environments, was acknowledged in the Local Government News Street Design awards for the benches provided for the project.
The redevelopment of New York Street (formerly York Street) was a Manchester City Council project aimed at improving the usability of the street for pedestrians. The robust materials and coatings used in the project were chosen for their durability, so as not to deteriorate or wear over time.
The benches provided by Bailey Streetscene were made bespoke for the project, being hand carved out of sea grey granite, with feature LED under lighting.
Managing Director of Bailey Streetscene, Ian Bailey commented: "We put a great deal of time and effort into creating these bespoke benches to complement all of the other street furniture being used in the project, so it is nice to be recognised. The finished street looks fantastic - with the benches themselves looking spectacular - especially when they are illuminated at night".
