Belvedere Riverside Resource Recovery Facility

Name of architect: Race Cottam for Cory Environmental
Name of sub-contractor: Lakesmere Ltd
Name of main contractor: Costain Ltd
Type of roof/wall/facade products used: Kingspan composite, Kalwal glazing
Geographical area/Town/Road: Norman Road, Belvedere, Kent
Building use: Waste Managment/Transfer Facility

The new Riverside Resource Recovery Facility is the largest project of its kind in the UK. Waste from Central London will be brought in by barge along the River Thames as well as by road and the creation of this pioneering facility is expected to make a significant contribution to London’s landfill diversion targets. The building’s design demonstrates the trend away from the bleak industrial structures of the past towards aesthetically pleasing buildings that complement the local environment.

Fixfast helped with the creation of the distinctive “swoosh” by providing unique powder-coated rivets to fix the curved and coloured panels to the face of the composite skin.
