Birkenhead & Tranmere Sure Start Centre, Liverpool

Type of works: supply and installation of Charter Integr8 security shutters.

Built-in security shutters designed and installed by Charter have been installed in the Birkenhead & Tranmere Sure Start Centre, Liverpool. In a development worth £2m, more than 40 shutters from the Charter-Integr8 range were installed at the Centre, part of a Government funded programme to improve the quality of life for children under four years old.

Because the building is being used by mothers and young children, it needed to look welcoming and friendly, without compromising security. The shutters had to be built-in so that they wouldn’t be visible when open, but would provide the highest level of security when closed. The Charter-Integr8 180LS model provided a perfect solution. The shutter mechanism is housed within a lintel, so it is completely concealed within the structural fabric of the building and doesn’t impact on the visual appearance.
