Blue Is The Colour

Blue Brindle is the latest colour to be added to Redland’s Rosemary clay plain tile range, introduced as a cost-effective alternative to the traditional Staffordshire Blue tile familiar to the Midlands region.

Staffordshire Blues achieve their colour through an energy-intensive and complex firing process. Redland, with its commitment to energy-efficient manufacturing, has produced a tile that achieves the same aesthetic effect using a blue engobe randomly applied to 70 – 90% of the surface and leading edge of a red-bodied tile before firing.

The effect is a rich and satisfying colour produced at lower cost and with reduced environmental impact in terms of Carbon emissions. The Blue Brindle addition further expands the range of standard, brindled and weathered colours of the clay tile range from Redland.

Early sales indicate that this distinctive colour will be as popular in the South East of England as in its traditional Midlands home.
