Type of works: supply and installation of Comar 6 curtain walling, Comar 7 doors and Comar-Ducosun solar shading.
Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems, with its approved fabricator Elfab Aluminium Ltd, supplied Comar 6 curtain walling, Comar-Ducosun solar shading and Comar 7 doors on a new prestigious development for the UKs largest glass bottle manufacturer and bonded warehouse, based in Chester.
Comar 6 was extruded to 7.5m to enable the framing to be installed without joints. Comar 6 curtain walling is a versatile 50mm thermally efficient system designed to integrate panels and glass of different widths, opening vents and doors. The design of Comar 6 makes it ideal for complex facetted curtain walls as well as sheer glazed facades.
Comar 7 swing doors were installed with noise reducing glass which was imported from Germany. Comar 7 is a flexible door system, which from multi-function profiles, all door configurations can be manufactured. AXIM concealed overhead closers with a 90º hold-open facility and anti finger-trap stiles were fitted.
To shade the façade, ComarDucosun 100C in-frame solar shading, complete with struts to suit a horizontal projection, was specified. The blades, rafters and struts are all part of the unique Ducosun multi-fit system, which allows fast track installation with its clicks and glide assembly. The windows, curtain wall and Ducosun were finished with a polyester powder-coat in RAL 7021 matt Dark Grey.
All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. Elfab Aluminium Ltd liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing, which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
