Reclaimed furniture, vintage design features and a fashionable shabby chic style lends a fabulous atmosphere to Artist Residence London, a Regency townhouse boutique hotel and restaurant in Londons trendy Pimlico Village. Together with this quirky appearance, Mumford & Woods double glazed, timber Conservation box sash windows and doors have been incorporated in the restoration of this substantial building.
Mumford & Woods Conservation box sash windows, finished in white, were specified by Child Graddon Lewis, architects and designers, Spitalfields, London E1 replacing inefficient single glazed windows of a more simple design. These high performance engineered timber windows and doors provide superb thermal and acoustic performance whilst reproducing authentic period style. Two exceptionally tall entrance doors at street level, one providing access to the hotel and the other to the restaurant, as well as windows to the restaurant have been replaced and finished using Mumford & Woods colour service to match the venues interior and exterior façade in dark grey.
A substantial part of the refurbishment involved stripping the space back to bare bricks and reworking the walls to their current condition. In the basement the floor was lowered to improve ceiling heights, a damp proof membrane and concrete slabs installed and polished to an eye-catching design floor finish. Substantial arched doorsets designed by Mumford & Wood provide access to a small paved terrace. A pitched pine parquet floor has been laid in the grand suite which benefits from natural light from two beautiful 6-over-6 pane front-facade Conservation box sash windows while the loft suite, with its revealed pitched roof, exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood flooring and open plan bathroom, features smaller 3-over-3 pane Conservation box sash windows.
