Type of works: design and fabrication of a blast- and fire-rated emergency escape tunnel.

Booth was commissioned by Aker Solutions, Norway to provide the complete design (working with Arup using NLFEA) and fabrication of a blast and fire rated emergency escape tunnel over 200m long suspended on the side of the Skarv FPSO. The tunnel was designed to withstand a blast pressure of 300kPa and provide H60 fire resistance. The corridor comprised an inner steel truss and outer stainless-steel blast-resistant envelope. Each section spanned 12m and included internal lining panels, flooring, lighting and ventilation together with several side entry/exit doors and was delivered for final assembly in Korea by Samsung.
