Burger King rebranding project

Burger King rebranding project

Client: Burger King
Type of works: supply of Rockfon Polar Colour ceiling tiles.

Burger King has recently specified Rockfon ceilings for its new 2020 corporate store design being rolled out as part of a major expansion and refurbishment project. Plans include construction of over 30 new stores and remodelling of many existing outlets across Europe and the UK. Colour is an essential element of the re-branding so Rockfon’s Polar Colour tiles were an ideal choice for the ceilings, meeting all the design and performance specifications required.

Interbrand Design developed the new 2020 branding for Burger King in the US. Mel Edwards, Senior Construction Manager for Burger King in North West Europe, is now overseeing the rollout here. “The new design concept has an industrial theme with lots of wood, concrete and metal,” explained Mel. “We wanted a metal look for the ceilings without the expense of a metal tile. I was familiar with Rockfon’s products from previous projects and knew their Polar Colour tiles in Graphite would create the desired effect. We also wanted as little grid on show as possible to give a flatter surface, and the Polar edge details enabled us to achieve this too.”

A signature element of the 2020 Design is a round central feature comprising a concrete circle on the floor, around which seating is arranged. This is mirrored in the ceiling by a suspended circular raft lit with red LED. The Polar Colour tiles in graphite are another signature element, helping to accentuate the colour scheme and enhancing the overall design.

Rockfon’s Polar Colour is a high performance tile that is readily available in ten standard colours for visible grid solutions. A wider palette of colours is available by special request. Polar Colour offers Class A1 fire protection thanks to its 100% stone wool core, which also gives it excellent dimensional stability. Combined with good acoustic properties and a hygienic, anti-fungal surface, Polar tiles are a sound choice for food outlets, such as Burger King.

One new build store has already been completed at the Escape Centre in Braehead, along with 3 refurbishments including the Gyle Shopping Centre in Edinburgh, and drive-thru stores in East Kilbride and Springfield Quay, Glasgow.
