Caice Acoustic Louvre screens installed by Colorminium's in-house team on a challenging multi-story hotel site

This project underscores their willingness and ability to navigate complex installations by providing their clients’ in-house teams with detailed instructions and guidance, addressing specific acoustic demands and optimising logistics.

Clear instructions gave their client the confidence to install their Acoustic Louvres and reduced their costs
They were commissioned by Colorminium who optimise real estate through exceptional façades, to Supply Only a 5-sided Acoustic Louvre screen for the multi-story RIU Plaza Hotel London in Victoria with varying and specific acoustic requirements on each floor.

Commissioning an external installation team can add to the overall cost of a project, so they provided detailed installation drawings that could be easily understood by their client’s in-house installation team unfamiliar with their products. The resulting installation was efficient and cost effective, meeting the stringent acoustic requirements for each floor while maintaining aesthetic consistency.

Meeting the different acoustic requirements for each floor
The project involved the installation of louvre screens that required bespoke profile brackets with adaptations for changing the louvre depth each floor. The primary challenges were:

Transition zones: To meet acoustic requirements, the depth of the louvre screens had to change between floors, creating transition zones that needed careful design, planning and installation.

Limited on-site space: The construction site had limited space for storing materials and components, which required meticulous palletisation and delivery planning.

Client’s in-house installation team: The installation team had no prior experience with Caice products, and the need for bespoke profiles and acoustic considerations made the installation process even more challenging.

Additional guidance and support for their client’s in-house team
Detailed installation drawings: They provided clear and easily understood installation instructions and drawings. These broke down the installation process per elevation, enabling the installation team to work efficiently and accurately.

Transition zones: To address the varying acoustic requirements on each floor, they created transition zones within the louvre screens. These zones were clearly delineated in the installation drawings to guide the installation team on how to adjust the louvres to meet the specific requirements for each floor whilst maintaining a consistent and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Additional support: Recognising the unfamiliarity of the installation team with their products, they provided them with additional support to ensure that the installation proceeded smoothly, answered their questions and provided on-site guidance as needed.

Limited on-site storage space overcome by efficient logistics using palletisation and delivery planning

Efficient palletisation and deliveries: To deal with the limited space on the construction site, they developed a customised palletisation plan for the louvres per elevation. Enabling efficient transportation, effective management of the on-site storage space to support an efficient installation process.

Distribution plans: They also created distribution plans to match the installation schedule, ensuring that louvres for each elevation arrived on-site just in time for installation, reducing the risk of delays or excessive storage needs.

Smooth, accurate installation and a very satisfied client
This project showcases their commitment to delivering tailored, high-quality products while facilitating a seamless installation process in challenging environments like hotels. Their client was very satisfied with the smooth installation by their in-house team, and the customised Acoustic Louvre Screens tailored to their precise needs. The strategy they developed and then implemented led to positive outcomes:

Efficient installation: The detailed installation drawings made it easier for the inexperienced installation team to complete the installation quickly and accurately.

Client satisfaction: Their client was very satisfied with the project’s progress, as the installation proceeded without major hitches, and the louvre screens were customised to their exact needs.
