Cembrit Helps Recycle Harlech's Waste

Cemsix corrugated sheet from Cembrit, specialist in cladding and roof slates, has been used at a recently constructed recycling plant in Wales. Built by Gwynedd Council at a cost of £1.6 million, the plant in Harlech, has been developed in response to the Welsh Assembly’s target of composting and recycling 40% of waste by 2009/2010. The Cemsix was supplied to, and fitted by, local company, Refurb Solutions.

Located at Ffridd Rasus, the plant is one of the first of its kind in Wales and is designed to be able to treat around 5,000 tonnes of food and garden waste each year. The ultimate aim is to significantly reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill in Gwynedd. The Cemsix provides a good looking, durable and weatherproof outer-skin to the building.

“I am pleased with the overall appearance of the plant, as the Cemsix corrugated sheeting blends nicely into the surrounding landscape,” says Mike Atherton of Refurb Solutions. “Not only that, it was a good material to work with, and as we do 95% of the fitting on our projects that is a point that can’t be overlooked. Cemsix is available in Natural Grey and eleven attractive pre-coloured options. Ideal for agricultural, commercial and industrial buildings, robust and practical Cemsix requires no maintenance to preserve its strength. Available in a standard imperial 6 inch profile, it is strengthened with strategically placed polypropylene reinforcement strips. These are incorporated within the fibre-cement sheet to comply with BS and H&S requirements for site safety and fragility.

Cemsix also conforms to the necessary fire safety requirements being a Class 0 surfaced material with an EXT.S.AA rating. Available in a variety of sheet lengths, the Cemsix range also offers a wide range of corrugated sheet accessories including ventilation to satisfy any roof design.
