Century House, South London
Client: Nicholson Estates
Type of work: Installation of BPT System 200 video door entry system with Nova monitors and BPT Targha digital video door entry panels.
BPT Security Systems (UK) Ltd, of Hemel Hempstead, has supplied the digital video door entry system for the newly redeveloped Century House MI6 building in South London, now called Perspective.
The 22 storey, former MI6 building consists of 180 apartments and 13 penthouses which have Midnight Security & Communications Ltd installed BPT System 200 video door entry system with Nova monitors. The Nova monitors have been flush mounted in the halls of each apartment. The Nova monitor has a sleek minimalist design which contrasts perfectly with its new surroundings. It has a 2 LCD flat screen on which it provides clear colour images and a combined audio module so residents can be sure of who is calling even at night.
At the two main entrances, BPT Targha digital video door entry panels in an aluminium finish have been installed. Targha digital panels were chosen for this location because of the large amount of apartments in the building. The digital panels have a simple 0 9 numbered keypad and you just push the keys relevant to the flat required. The modern, curved design of the panels and keys make them very tactile and a hit with architects and interior designers.
Century House was a drab, austere post-war office block which was MI6 headquarters up until recently, when they moved to nearby Vauxhall. However, the growing need for more residential accommodation in London has caused the redevelopment of many commercial premises, Century House being one. Nicholson Estates has transformed the building from a concrete tower block to a twenty first century luxury apartment complex by means of a £25 million pound facelift, and renamed it Perspective. The new architectural design, featuring the stylish BPT Targha and Nova products, have combined to make this a very desirable place to live.
