Cleanroom Partitioning at London Underground

Cleanroom Partitioning at London Underground

Troax Lee Manufacturing's Titan double skin partitioning system has been selected to create a cleanroom area for Transport for London. In February 2015, Transport for London, on behalf of London Underground approached TROAX LEE MFG. regarding a project in their facilities to create a cleanroom area for a train repair and R & D Area.

The full Transport for London proposal was to design and construct a facility for electronic repair and testing to reduce London Underground’s reliance on external suppliers and to bring the majority of work in-house. Allied with this strategy is the provision of suitable facilities for more complex testing of electronic signalling components.

The Troax Lee Manufacturing portion of this job was specified for Titan Materials to be used in the creation of cleanroom and workshop areas, specifically an area of approximately 30 metres by 12.4 metres in size with two additional internal areas, one 5.2 x 3.9 metres, and the other 5.3 x 10 metres. Stephen Hassan, Assistant Project Manager for SWIP / London Underground, said "The Troax team were very flexible, adaptable and worked collaboratively with the project team and other contractors on-site through last planner meetings and site coordination meetings. “The partitions and ceiling materials were delivered to the agreed time scales and were installed ahead of programme".
