Colorcoat Black Box hotel records most stylish award

Dakota Eurocentral Hotel looks like a giant ‘black box’ and this striking exterior is thanks to Colorcoat Prisma® pre-finished steel. Clad in the deep black shade of Kronos, the result is a building which has such a dramatic and dominating presence it’s been nicknamed ‘Darth Vader’s Apartment’.

The six-storey, 92-bed hotel is designed to give its guests a five-star experience without the need for a first-class budget.

Designed by Cardiff-based Rio Architects, following a successful similar project in Nottingham, Dakota Eurocentral is a sleek, futuristic blend of steel and glass with an exterior surface that appears deep and mysterious thanks to the unique colour of Kronos and the properties of each Colorcoat Prisma® panel, part of Colorcoat’s couture range of pre-finished steel cladding for buildings.

Yet whilst the outside of Dakota Eurocentral is shiny and minimalist, inside the hotel guests will find sumptuous soft furnishings and luxurious finishes which contradict yet somehow complement the contemporary, edgy exterior of the hotel.

Linked directly to the hotel is a three-storey office block, where the unique colour of Kronos is combined with Colorcoat Prisma® in Silver, creating a stark contrast between the two buildings giving the leisure and business elements of the complex their own exterior identity.

And it’s a look that will last. Every panel of Colorcoat Prisma® not only has superior colour retention and corrosive resistance, it has the reassurance of Colorcoat’s market-leading Confidex® guarantee of 25 years for solid colours and 30 years for metallic colours – with no maintenance or inspections needed to keep the guarantee valid.

With 27 different shades, using Colorcoat Prisma® is a sophisticated way for any building to make a real impact. And it’s why, just two months after opening, Dakota Eurocentral was named ‘Scotland’s Most Stylish Hotel’ in the Scottish Style Awards.
