Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems; with their approved fabricator Anglia Fixing Ltd recently completed a new build office development at Crossways Business Park in Kent.

In this project, Comar 6EFT was selected as it offers architects a flexible system, providing a structurally glazed solution, with options for facets, concealed vents and an extensive range of profiles that cater for large structurally glazed panes. Shading was a key consideration on the southern elevations to reduce the need for air conditioning and the associated running costs, therefore to shade the façade Comar–Ducosun 100C in-frame solar shading complete with struts to suit a 1600mm horizontal projection were specified. The blades, rafters and struts are all part of the unique Ducosun multi-fit system which allows fast track installation with its “clicks and glide” assembly. Anglia Fixing and Comar worked with the specifier to ensure maximal shading was created during the summer months. Brace struts and props were calculated to ensure the correct projection in an under slung configuration, fixed back to the structure.

For the opening vents, Comar 5P.i window system which uses trademarked Polyamide Insulated (P.i) that provides exceptional thermal performance in a market where energy efficient designs and meeting the demands of the latest building regulations are paramount. From fifteen basic Comar 5P.i profiles, all window configurations, such as casement, top swing reversible, pivot, tilt and turn and sliding can be manufactured. These windows offer outstanding weather performance and reduce heat loss through the trademark P.i thermal break ensuring low U-values so energy bills are minimised. On this project Comar 5P.i ECO was selected. Comar 5P.i ECO is a casement window system which includes a 55mm and 75mm option, offering slim sight-lines in a top hung configuration.

As this is a busy office environment, Comar 7P.i Commercial Door-sets are a natural choice and for this project Comar 7P.i HSD and Pivot doors were selected. Comar 7P.i doors are they available in swing, pivot, sliding, auto-sliding and sliding folding, and they have been designed specifically for applications where high traffic solutions are required. Polyamide Insulated (P.i) window and door systems provide exceptional thermal performance in a market where energy efficient designs and meeting the demands of the latest building regulations are paramount.
