Comar Architectural Aluminium Systems; with their approved fabricator L.A.G (Lincolnshire Architectural Glazing) completed works on the first phase of London’s newest airport terminal at Southend Airport. Since opening the airport saw a 29.9% passenger increase during the summer of 2013, their busiest summer since formal records began in 1967.

The design vision was to create a continuous glazed facade to the new terminal clearly identifying its location to passengers. With this in mind, and to ensure the design brief could be achieved, Comar 6EFT 4sided SG was selected as it offers architects a flexible system, providing a structurally glazed solution, with options for facets, concealed vents and an extensive range of profiles that cater for large structurally glazed panes. Comar 6EFT 4sided SG also offered the slimmest silicon or EPDM joints in the industry, which means the eye catching glazed area is maximised

In an extremely busy Airport environment, Comar 7P.i Commercial Door sets were the natural choice. Not only are they available in swing, pivot, sliding, auto-sliding and sliding folding, they have been designed specifically for applications where high traffic solutions are required. Polyamide Insulated (P.i) door systems also provide exceptional thermal performance in a market where energy efficient designs and meeting the demands of the latest building regulations are paramount.

All Comar approved fabricators are required to have the technical expertise to attend pre-site meetings and provide detailing. L.A.G liaised closely with the specifiers to provide design advice and detailing which ensured the project ran smoothly and met site deadlines.
