Continuity with Corbel Cavitray

19 Oct 2010

Where corbel dimensions result in the cavity being encroached or breached, a different approach is required to ensure the corbel cannot act as a bridge via which penetrating dampness can reach the inside skin.

A preformed corbel cavitray that envelops the hidden faces of the corbel is manufactured to order by Cavity Trays of Yeovil.

The corbel cavitray prevents dampness from permeating inwardly and with thermal insulation bonded on those faces that run parallel with the outside skin, it also addresses cold bridging.

The envelopment can incorporate an upward angled section on the top of the corbel surround (to guard against water tracking) where masonry exists between it and its position in relation to the roofline.

The corbel cavitray is manufactured from petheleyne dpc and the phenolic insulation has a ‘k’ value of 0.029W/mK. Use of corbel cavitrays can improve the thermal behaviour at the point of incorporation and ensure the detail is unable to support water ingress. Cavity Trays Ltd is pleased to schedule and quote for your requirements upon receipt of drawings.
