Cor Castle, Ireland

13 Sep 2006

Type of works: restoration of Cor Castle, using Delta products to channel water underneath habitable rooms.

Cor Castle is over 400 years old, and until the recent past was a ruin, but has now been restored completely using Delta Membrane Systems products.

The building is built into a hillside. The lower-ground floor is underground on the south elevation, and at ground level on the north elevation. During periods of heavy rain, a natural spring flows through the building. The rooms through which the water flows are habitable rooms, so Delta MS20 was used to line the floors with the water chanelled underneath. The walls were then lined with Delta-PT, and finished with NHL 3.5 hydraulic lime plaster. The system has now been installed for over five years, and is performing without problems.
