Crawley Leisure Centre, West Sussex

Client: Crawley Borough Council
Architect: S&P Architects of London
Main contractor: MJ Gleeson
Installers: Pica floors of Great Dunmow
Type of works: Junckers multi-purpose sports flooring installed at Crawley Leisure Centre.

As part of the £24m development of Crawley Leisure Centre in West Sussex, 2,000m2 of Junckers Press dried beech SylvaSport Premium has been used to create the multi-purpose sports floor which will be a training facility for the 2012 London Olympics.  A Dojo and several dedicated aerobics areas have also been fitted using Junckers flooring over the UnoBat 62+ system.

The sports hall floor was laid using Junckers' new UnoBAT 50 single-layer batten system, which has an installation height of only 50mm.  This is one of three new sports flooring systems from Junckers, simplifying specifier choices by combining player safety with outstanding ball response, cost-effectiveness and ease of installation. The product of Junckers' high-level research and development programmes, these sports flooring systems are state of the art technology, conforming both to BS 7044, DIN 18032 and BS EN 14904:2006.
