Crowne Plaza, London Ealing

Architect: Alastair Bell Design Limited
Type of works: supply and installation of TORMAX™ revolving entrance system, combined with iMotion™ swing door.

The recently refurbished Crowne Plaza London Ealing, now welcomes business and tourist travellers with a stainless-steel, contemporary revolving entrance system combined with iMotion™ swing door from TORMAX™. Precision-manufactured from highly polished stainless steel, the profile on the revolving door wings is just 40 x 20mm, which combined with an all-glass canopy and absence of a centre column, gives the entrance a graceful elegance and delicacy. Allowing easy access for all, the adjacent automatic swing door provides ample space for wheelchair users or those with quantities of luggage.

Situated in a prime location on the busy Hanger Lane Gyratory System, West London, the Crowne Plaza now boasts stylish brasserie, bar, health club, club lounge and meeting rooms as well as 131 large en-suite bedrooms. Architects Alastair Bell Design Limited specified TORMAX™ for the main entrance, setting the standard for guests as they arrive at the hotel. Smoothly and silently rotating the modern three-leaf door, the TORMAX 5251™ revolving operator delivers exceptional reliability that is the result of extensive product testing and development at the Swiss head-office.

Offering optimum safety, all TORMAX™ revolving doors are manufactured using safety glass and feature technologically advanced activation sensors, safety pressure strips, finger protection mechanisms and most importantly a drive with high dynamic braking power. If required, TORMAX™ can include hi-tech touchless sensors on the door wings that recognise a slow-moving person and automatically adjust door speed. In the case of an emergency, guests at the Crowne Plaza can rest assured that the rapid break-out device on the revolving door will allow for swift evacuation.

Recognising the need for sustainable solutions in today’s market, a TORMAX™ revolving entrance is one of the best methods of minimising heat loss from a building when faced with high levels of foot traffic, whilst the operators themselves are meticulously engineered to consume minimum energy. In addition, all TORMAX™ new iMotion™ operators, such as the 1401 underfloor swing door drive installed at the Crowne Plaza, are manufactured almost entirely using recyclable materials.
