Croxteth Park, Liverpool

Client: Liverpool City Council
Type of works: three playgrounds were designed and built featuring playground equipment for children of different ages.

In 2001 it was decided to set up a new playground environment in the Croxteth park area near Liverpool. The playgrounds were to blend into the surroundings as much as possible. They should be pleasant and attractive and meet the conditions of impending new legislation (DDA), according to which public facilities and environments shall be equally suited to users with motional or sensory special needs.

Irene Vickers, member of the team and project supervisor, comments: ‘Lappset convinced the decision-makers by offering products with high play value and high-quality design and materials, together with a good and reliable service. A total of three playgrounds were designed and built in the area, featuring playground equipment for children of different ages. The selection of equipment allowed for children with motional or sensory special needs, since impending new legislation requires they be provided with equal opportunities for using the playgrounds. Lappset’s products were admirably suited in this respect, since Lappset has considered these aspects of inclusive play in its product development.’
