Type of works: supply and installation of EasyDrive vents to provide a natural ventilation soluton in the classroom.

Norking was commissioned by ROK to glaze the new £35m Faculty of Business and Law in the Magazine Gateway area of De Montfort University. They in turn came to SE Controls for a solution on their Natural Ventilation needs.

SE Controls was asked to provide 130 TGCO 24 20 ED (EasyDrives), for classroom vents over three floors. Each window was a small top-hung open-out glazed vent. Every floor required some vents to open for cross ventilation and others connected to internal ducting to create a night purge, to clear the faculty of built up stale air and CO₂. EasyDrives were selected in accordance with BS EN 60335-2-103:2003, due to the vents being installed 2.5m from fix floor level and creating a finger-trap hazard. Each motor was painted to match internal frame colours at a very short lead time.
