Delta Balustrades completes work at world's greenest M&S store

Delta Balustrades, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and installers of bespoke handrail systems, has recently completed a major project at the world’s second biggest Marks & Spencer store at Cheshire Oaks, Ellesmere Port.

The Sandbach-based company was contracted by Simons Construction to manufacture and install all internal balustrades at the 148,000 sq ft store, including escalator voids, stairs and atria.

The balustrades, from Delta’s Vista™ range, incorporate frameless structural glass to create a contemporary, elegant look, offering unimpeded views and enhancing ambient light. All balustrades are manufactured to meet BS6399 and BS6180 industry standards to ensure that they can withstand the rigours of everyday use.

As well as sleek and secure design, the family-run balustrades manufacturer has incorporated a range of safety features in the store, including 1.8 metre high balustrades throughout the eating areas to prevent small children from climbing up them.

Design features such as this have been chosen because they meet the green commitments of M&S’ Plan A initiative, launched in 2007.

A Delta Balustrades spokesperson commented: “We are very pleased to have worked on the new M&S store at Cheshire Oaks, and our Vista™ balustrades fit perfectly with the look and feel of the whole environment.”
