Sesame Access Systems offers platform only disabled lifts and platform retracting stair lift for listed buildings. The changes are put into place in order to meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
The access can be installed in indoor and outdoor areas and can be controlled through push button, smart card or remote signal operation. There is an automatic battery back up for emergency lift lowering and the stairs can be clad by whatever material the client wants - anything from carpet through to marble. For the disabled platform lift Sesame provides a base plate tray with a 3mm stainless steel trim enclosure which provides the floor layers a fixed area for cladding.
An example can be viewed at The Institute of Civil Engineers where e external entrance is clad in Limestone which is almost invisible, only 6mm gaps bounding the moving parts and static area stand out from the permanent side of the staircase. A further feature of this installation is that the control button box rises from below the stair lift when the stairs retract. All work meets British Standards and Part M of building regulations. The sesame System has been independently assessed and approved by TUV conforming to EN81-41 and the Machinery Directive.
