Upgrading the main staff and public entrance to the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) headquarters in Swansea, local aluminium fabricators AB Glass contracted TORMAX™ to supply and install their technologically advanced curved-sliding RONDOR automatic door system. Visually impressive, the RONDOR consists of two sets of bi-parting curved doors which slide smoothly apart to allow clear access.

From the date of order, TORMAX™ only had six weeks to manufacturer and install the 2m diameter RONDOR.

An extension to the existing DVLA building, the new lobby area is part of a three year refurbishment project which has included a budget of over £3m for replacement windows and doors. A contemporary twist on the traditional revolving door, the RONDOR is highly functional, delivering an entranceway that has a 50% larger opening space than sliding doors would allow in the same location. Extremely reliable, the doors are powered by the tried and tested TORMAX™ TEP operators, neatly housed within the circular casing. During inclement weather, opening times can be adjusted to create an effective airlock between the two sets of bi-parting doors, reducing heat loss from the building and helping maintain an ambient internal temperature.
