With excellent thermal and acoustic properties, Knauf Insulations Earthwool products have been installed to a project featured on Channel Fours popular TV programme, George Clarkes Amazing Spaces. The project was undertaken to demonstrate what could be built within permitted development rights.
Knauf Insulation supplied 50 slabs of its Earthwool glass mineral wool EcoBatt and 48 slabs of its Earthwool rock mineral wool Building Slab to the project.
The project was managed by Hamish Boden from William Hardie Design who commented: We were given the task to create a garden studio, snug den and butterfly house within a small London garden for George Clarke and his children, The challenge was to create something beautiful and enhance the outdoor living space. However, we wanted to build this new structure under permitted development rights, to show the programmes viewers that it is a possible achievement.
"Knauf Insulations Earthwool insulation products ticked all the boxes as the thermal and acoustic characteristics allowed us to maintain a high level of insulation in a minimal build up, making the building functional all year round.
Hamish continued: The insulation products supplied by Knauf Insulation provided excellent thermal conductivities ranging from 0.032W/mK to 0.037W/mK and exceptional acoustic properties ideal for this project were noise from the studio and snug den needed to be kept to a minimum to prevent disturbing the neighbours.
