Ecobuild’s Big Innovation Pitch is open to any company operating in the UK construction, building performance and engineering sectors. It supports M&S Plan A sustainability strategy: to source responsibly, reduce waste and help communities, with the ultimate goal of becoming the world's most sustainable major retailer.

2015 winner Endotherm has been trialled extensively and last year's winner Waterblade is about to start.
Competition Criteria:
M&S are seeking retrofitable, scalable technologies that represent a good return on investment and are able to be applied to retail shops. Innovations should help M&S delivery against its Plan A objectives.The competition is especially seeking solutions and products which reduce Electricity, Gas and Water usage, related to the following Property Sustainability themes:
Energy Storage • Increasing efficiency of gas fired products • Solutions to optimise HVAC systems, air, water and heat pumps • Low GWP refrigeration solutions • Passive refrigeration • Demand Side Management for refrigeration and HVAC equipment • Heat Reclaim & fully Integrated building services systems • Fluid modelling (CFD) to assist with better refrigeration and HVAC design • Water efficiency measures to help reduce consumption at outlets or recycle water • LED Lighting • Wireless lighting technologies • Improved building control/sensing systems (using wireless or minimising install and maintenance costs) • Energy management from big data analysis • Renewable technologies
