Empire Hotel, Llandudno, North Wales

Type of works: installation of Eclisse and Karis glass sliding doors.

The Empire Hotel is dealing with a refurbishment project in some of its rooms. They have choosen Eclisse and Karis glass sliding doors as they give a new and modern renovation to the rooms, without compromising the peculiarity of the Victorian style.

Elyse Waddy, manager and owner of the Empire Hotel and of the elegant Osborne House, wants to refurbish thirty en-suites in her Victorian buildings. The hotel is a family business established in 1946, when her grandparents came to North Wales and started their trade. She explains, “The peculiarity of our hotel is its Victorian character strengthened by its impressive position in the picturesque seaside resort of Llandudno. We are a traditional hotel but with a boutique feel in style and new bathrooms reflect that newer feel”.

She chose Eclisse sliding pocket systems for their strength and reliability and combined them with the frameless Karis Venetian glass doors without compromising the elegant Victorian style. The frameless satin finish glass doors slide effortlessly into the walls letting in much more light as well as creating extra usable space. The end result transform these rooms with a much more spacious feel without changing the essential Victorian style.

The Eclisse system uses an ingenious frame mounted, self-centering guide so there is no threshold to interrup floor surfaces. Along with the metal frame, a finishing joinery kit is supplied which makes the finished product a beautiful and professionally finished sliding door.
