Environmental Good Practice On-Site

Environmental Good Practice On-Site

Clients, their professional advisors, contractors and the whole construction supply chain all have responsibilities towards environmental management. The nature of environmental legislation is changing and this together with changes in good practice makes training on environmental issues relevant for all levels of construction experience.

In response, CIRIA, in partnership with industry practitioners, has developed from its published guidance a one-day training course focusing on environmental good practice, which aims to provide practical guidance about managing construction sites to minimise potential impacts.

The content of the course is based on the best selling 2nd edition of CIRIA's Environmental Good Practice On-Site Guide (C650) and accompanying booklet on site checklists (C651).

Modules covered within the course provide attendees with a overview of the benefits of good practice, the environmental obligation under which a site operates, the framework within which impacts are managed as well as guidance on specific environmental issues:

  • buying, storing and managing materials
  • dust, emissions and odours
  • ground contamination
  • noise and vibration
  • traffic management and vehicle use
  • waste
  • water
  • wildlife and invasive species.

Those attending this course receive a complementary copy of the site guide.
