Erith Riverside Shopping Centre underwent a renovation to expand the shopping area. The architect‘s initial concept featured a glazed roof, but the existing buildings could not support the weight. To solve this, Novum proposed a lightweight, single layer of tensioned ETFE.

Construction challenges included a tight three week installation period, a parking garage beneath the site that prevented the use of heavy machinery and a shopping centre that remained open to the public during construction. Novum responded by hand delivering materials after business hours to prevent disruption to shoppers and merchants. Long hours and an efficient installation enabled Novum to complete the project ahead of schedule.

AES steel that is media blasted, primed and liquid painted provides structural support for the roof. SSM cables provide tension to a single layer of ETFE with screen printing.
