FAKRO has been awarded the 2016 Red Dot Design Award for its DEF DU6 flat roof window. The international award has been given yearly since 1955 by Design Zentrum of Essen and is considered by many to be the ‘Oscar of Industrial Design’.
This year saw a record number of 5214 entries from 57 countries with 41 judges, among them designers, journalists and academics, having the task of determining the winner. The award is further proof that FAKRO’s long track record of innovation. It now has a team of more than 100 engineers and 140 patent applications.
The DEF window symbolises all that is best about the company’s designs, its high performance glazing unit, thermal performance and advanced automatic control having helped transform interiors of flat roof buildings throughout the world.
