An ultra-slim solar control system has been created by Hunter Douglas to meet the demands of the most modern of building designs. At just five millimetres thick, the minimalist Flat Bar shutter is at least 50% thinner than existing alternatives and has been created to meet the aesthetic requirements of architects.

The beauty of the Flat Bar shutter’s aluminium frame is that it is as unobtrusive as possible – even the powder-coated screws used to attach the fins are powder-coated to ensure they blend in with the overall design.

This design innovation has been used be dramatic effect in a minimalist-style housing complex in Brescia, Italy, where its shading and thermal performance is demonstrably equal to any other Hunter Douglas sliding shutter systems. It also guarantees privacy for occupiers because the window can be blocked entirely.
