One of the worlds largest centres for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases has installed a new Flowcrete floor that matches their high working standards.
The Fu Wai Hospital in Beijing was concerned that the floor in their liquid nitrogen libraries would not withstand the demands placed upon it. To ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the floor the global resin flooring specialists Flowcrete Group installed Flowshield SL with a top coat of Flowseal UV.
Francis Tan, the Managing Director of Flowcrete China, said: Fu Wai Hospital needed to find a flooring solution that would provide performance and reliability in a highly specialised environment.
The demands that the 800 square metre storeroom floor had to meet included withstanding nitrogen splashes at extremely low temperatures, providing a level platform, being anti-slip and highly chemical resistant.
Due to the hospitals rural location insect invasion became a challenge during application. This incident was overcome by constantly and diligently guarding the entire process, which meant that the project was successfully completed within the 10 day deadline.
The epoxy resin Flowshield SL provides a high-gloss, self-smoothing finish and is a popular choice for areas subjected to foot, trolley, pallet truck and rubber wheeled forklift traffic such as laboratories, clean rooms and pharmaceutical plants. Durability is a key feature, with a high chemical resistance grade available to add to its hard wearing, anti-abrasion properties.
Flowseal is a pigmented, water-based epoxy floor sealer that produces a satin finish. This material is recommended for use in storerooms and light industrial areas and its main benefits include being hygienic, easy to maintain and vapour permeable.
