Composition and manufacture
Apex Heritage cast-iron products are produced in the traditional sandcast method, in which the sand imparts the authentic cast-iron texture and appearance, and allows components, such as pipe collars and ears to be cast in one piece with downpipes. Cast-iron goods are manufactured to BS 460:2002. Available from stock, Apex Heritage is suited to fast-track and craft-based contracts.
Alumasc supplies cast-iron products, factory primed with one coat of protective Red oxide primer. This primer will give protection against corrosion during transportation and short-term undercover storage, and will also provide a suitable surface for final painting. On-site handling and painting are the responsibility of the contractor.
Apex Heritage is now also available in a high performance satin pre-finish Black. The finish comprises a three-coat system, factory-applied under controlled conditions, and has been specifically developed to give a smooth and long-lasting finish to the cast iron.
Gutter profiles for both ranges include half-round, beaded half-round, ogee and moulded.
Full technical service is available from Alumasc Technical Services, covering all aspects of design, manufacture and installation.
Cast iron is 100% recyclable, with waste being able to be returned to the furnace to make new cast-iron products.
