Composition and manufacture

Cembrit Canadian natural slates can be holed on site, by hand or machine, to produce the required size. The Canadian slates exhibited the top Class A1 standard for water absorption, Class T1 for thermal cycle resistance, and Class S1 for sulphur dioxide exposure resistance. The slates also have good flexural strength, both transversely and longitudinally, as well as acceptable non-carbonate carbon content.

The average life of Cembrit natural slates, when laid with recommended fixings and detailing, is the life of the building.

Sitework

Glendyne™, Glacier and Trinity natural slates should be laid in accordance with the provisions of the latest edition of BS 5534:2003 and BS 8000-6:1990, and ventilated in accordance with BS 5250:2002.
