Composition and manufacture
Timber used is coniferous timber. This gives a compact structure and results in a stronger, moisture-resistant wood. Timber frames are treated with fungicides and insecticides, in accordance with DS2122 Class B, and have a further two coats of factory-applied microporous paint or stain finish. Dry paint finish is between 60 and 100 microns, to a 30% satin level.
Profiles are also laminated and treated against fungus and rot to prolong their longevity. All Rationel windows are certified to meet Secured by Design, Specification for enhanced security performance, and have a Ug-value as low as 1.1W. The ironmongery is concealed to give a modern appearance.
