Composition and manufacture
Aluminium profiles are extruded from aluminium alloy 6063 T6, T5 or T4 complying to BS EN 755-9:2001. Systems incorporate a polyamide thermal break and can carry up to 32mm double glazing.
External aluminium sections can be anodised to BS 1615 or BS 3987 or powder-organic coated to BS 6496.
All windows systems have been tested in accordance with the performance criteria laid down by BS 6375:Part 1:1983 and BS 4873:1986. The windows achieved 600Pa air permeability and watertightness, and 2,400Pa wind resistance. In line with new building legislation, Metal Technology has developed a range of window and door systems which offer improved energy efficiency. In conjunction with the double-glazed unit, these systems can offer low U values, which will comply with the requirements of Approved Document L (Document J in Scotland).
Contact the Technical Department for further information on the implications of these new regulations or to arrange a RIBA CPD seminar.
