Gazprom Marketing and Trading, Hampton Wick, London

22 Oct 2008

Client: Gazprom Marketing and Trading
Contractors: IOR Group
Type of works: supply of electrically-operated Metamatic venetian blinds for new offices.

A new space in an existing building, that is partially sunk below the level of the Thames, was completely fitted out from the shell and core to provide open-plan spaces and multi-purpose meeting areas. Blinds sympathetic to the exceptionally modern interior, were required to provide solar shading and security screening to the large areas of glazing surrounding the building.

The venetian blinds selected for the project are particularly suitable for window sizes ranging from 1,660 to 4,550mm in width and 2,000 -3,900mm in drop, with a large motor capable of operating blinds of this size. They are industrial-type blinds with a stylish, non-industrial appearance. The installation required exceptionally detailed planning and phased fitting due to the complex nature of the internal building work. The wiring for the blinds had to be completed 2 months in advance of the fitting, to enable the ceilings to be sealed at an early stage in the overall project. Close liaison with the contractors, and many site visits ensured a very satisfactory completion to this highly technical and detailed project.
