Glass monopitch rooflight for private home in Worthing

DVS installed a three metre wide by six metre long Lamilux PR60 Glass Roof System with glazed triangular gables at this detatched house in Worthing, Sussex. The glazing floods the property with natural light and provides the owners with panoramic views of the beach area and out to sea, from their first floor living area.

The installation was carried out as part of a major refurbishment of the 1950s property, which included a major internal refit as well as the work to the building envelope. The aluminium framework was given a special anti-Filiform pre-treatment prior to powder coating, giving it a marine grade finish and guaranteeing longevity.

The design features high performance Guardian SunGuard SuperNeutral SN 62/34 solar control glazing with a low g value of 34% and a light transmission of 62%, giving exceptional solar control with a high light transmission and a low U value of 1.0. This provides exceptional control over the temperature inside.

The glass was also specified with Ritec Clearsheild: a low maintenance ‘non-stick’ glass coating which keeps the surface cleaner for longer and makes cleaning easier when required. It also resists staining and discolouration.

The three main glass panes each measured 2.194m x 3.05m (6.7m²) and weighed around 320kg – so once the installation team had installed the framework, the glass was carefully lifted with a crane into position using a specialist glass vacuum lifting device.
