Graefe supplies bespoke wooden doors for Ropemaker Place

Grafe has supplied real wood doors for office development Ropemaker Place. The 20 storey skyscraper, designed by Arup Associates, has impressive sustainability credentials including rainwater harvesting and a tilting double glazed façade that reduces heat gain.

Reinforcing Arup’s green credentials, the client travelled to a specialist supplier in Bavaria to hand pick an unusual crown-cut Smoked Swiss Pear veneer from FSC certified stock. This stunning veneer was used in the manufacture of the doors on all 21 floors. Each door being of bespoke size meant they fell outside standard fire ratings – Graefe applied for, and achieved a specific fire rating from an authorised fire consultant.

A spectacular design was accomplished in the reception area with randomly matched planks of an extremely rare FSC certified log of European Walnut. Graefe also supplied factory painted riser doors on the project – providing a ‘one-stop shop’ solution to the client. Producing premium real wood veneer products since 1837, Graefe’s skilled craftsmanship and use of the highest quality raw materials has earned them a reputation for unrivalled quality and distinguished them from the mass producers.
